Most of us are caught up in a hectic whirlwind of activities which start on Monday morning, end on Sunday night and then begin all over again. Time slips by as we rush to complete urgent tasks which relate to juggling jobs, running appointments and commitments. Yet, we all acknowledge, that spending quality time together is the best way we have to show each other that we care and that our families are important.
Here are some ideas that can make spending time with your family simple, meaningful and a part of your daily life.
1. Leave a Message.
Everybody loves surprises, so if you don’t have time to see them in the morning before you leave for work, leave a short note for them to find. They will be thrilled to get message from you and you will have had a chance to show that you value it so much that you made an effort to leave them a surprise note or message.
2. Make your to-do list.
Divide your to-do list into 3 categories: Don’t, Delegate and Do. Go through the list and ask yourself “What happens if I don’t do this?” And if you’re doing task out of guilt or habit, move it to the Don’t section. Decide if someone else can do the tasks in the Delegate column. For the items that must get done, draw happy face, an € sign by items that save or make money, and a clock sign next to tasks that will save time later. These symbols will remind you why these things matter. And there’s always one thing on your to-do list you know you’re going not to do, so just cross it 🙂
3. Reduce Time-Wasters.
It’s no longer up to one person to oversee everything for everybody, make sure your coworker can log in to view and edit events….the information that updates in real time is essential. Sign up for shopping sites and you will save time and money by purchasing groceries in few minutes.
4. Make Your Job Work for You.
Productivity at work creates more relaxed time at home. Sometimes you can get more done outside the office. You can always have alternating meeting as participating via conference calls or Skype.
5. Rely on Technology.
To avoid scheduling conflicts and determine free time, mark important dates—like conferences, school holidays and business trips—into the calendar on your smartphone that synchronize with your work calendar. Your digital calendar should work on all your devices and be easily accessed from anywhere.
We wish to make spending time with your family something you do on a daily basis.
